ISLAMABAD, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) — At least 40 people were killed and four others injured after a passenger bus fell on Sunday morning into a ditch in Lasbela district, southwestern Balochistan province. of Pakistan, government authorities said.

According to reports, the coach crashed into a bridge pillar while making a U-turn near Chinki stop in the district’s Bela area and eventually fell into a ravine and burst into flames. .

Authorities said the accident happened due to speeding.

Speaking to Xinhua, Saad Edhi of the relief non-governmental organization Edhi Foundation said all the victims were recovered from the site, without mentioning the situation of the bus driver.

Edhi said around 45 passengers were on board the bus, adding that the injured were transferred to a local hospital while the deceased were taken to the southern port city of Karachi.

Apparently, the unfortunate bus was traveling from Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, to Karachi.
